In my college years I often watch films by foreign countries with subtitles. Many were very good but rather obscure. I think I will return to watching them now that many now have become available through outlets like Snagfilms.com.

I have never heard of Red White Blue, but certainly will check it out. Your poem as a certain melancholy to it as though the flower of an era had died with the great director's demise in 1996. I'm assuming that you knew him well.

Eclectic taste often delimitates those who are serious about their chosen artistic expression; music, art, writing, cinema, etc.. For me personally the old Norse Poetry - particularly the 'Prose Edda' of Snorri Sturluson - encourages insight and, at times, a certain degree of inspiration and clarity. As a discipline I write in this old style but never share it. I'm certain, for someone like you, Bruce, who seems drawn to what seems best of various styles or ideas, (in the matters of artistic cinema), that your life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away; to quote the old axiom. Sadly, in this superficial society, bad taste creates many more millionaires than good taste. Only the work of art itself can raise the standard of taste; something that rarely happens in coffee-klatch communities where healthy discourse is almost non-existent. Continued inspiration... rlc
