It’s that time of year when our spirit’s health might depend on being thankful for what we have, even with times as difficult as they are. Here’s to the struggle the middle class face as Trump’s 100th day approaches.

Healing Wounded Flights
by Odin Roark
So easy
the description,
a handicap
borne by many.
Yet we lift off
from the gravity pinning us
to a history
we may not have picked.
From beliefs
perhaps foisted upon us.
To hopes
we believe are just over the horizon.
The flight is often ungainly.
We are laughed at,
pitied,
often scorned.
You hear, “Accept your place,”
while struggling to reach
the plateau,
the branch,
for a moment’s respite,
time to rest for the remaining journey.
Something they,
the spectators of struggle,
continue to be what they are not.
One’s broken wing makes it difficult,
but not impossible.
After all,
less than perfection
need not be defined
as one wing doing all the work.
Possibly…
It is the triumphant inner vibration,
motion,
and spirit
of knowing one’s honest worth,
allows appreciating what little one has,
giving power to make what one has not
less disparaging.
From the gravity pinning us
to a history
We may not have picked."
That's so very true, Odin! Thanks for sharing!
But life is not as simple as that and they wait patiently with great faith in "the man who will save them." Unfortunately, like many things these days, this man of simple solutions is now saying, "It's more complicated than that." And that it is.
Alvin Toffler described the failure to accept change as Future Shock several decades ago. The phenomena is increasing as life gets more technological and complicated. Aging minds just can't get a grasp on it. Change bothers them. They want to go back to tougher times with fonder memories.
