Some of us often ask, “Is it true ?”

Contesting or Not…
              by Odin Roark

We ponder,
natural versus man made,
marvel at technology
remembering youth’s innocence,
adult expectations.

We escape,
wondering about the earth’s conundrum.

The future unknown.

The past unchanged.

The present rife with decision…or not.

We walk,
trails beneath our feet,
birds above our head,
flowers blanketing the tundra,
Wildlife taking up our photographic lens,
huts for resting.

We run,
timeshare development at our heels,
everyone wishing to live beyond,
never knowing long term costs,
the kind slowly absorbing our oxygen,
consumption’s methodical genius.

We bolt,
At futures filled with confusion,
the speculative imperative of progress,
moving with the flow,
or risk being left behind.

“We’ve arrived!”

Huh?

One can't go any further once they've " 'arrived!' "!! Rest up now.

Love ya!

Much to ponder. There is a sense of "keeping up with the Joneses," in this piece. As far as technology goes, it does make sense to work with the latest technology.

However, when it comes to nature, I prefer to work at a leisure pace. That's why I preferred not to try to enhance my nature in sports by torturous and technology ridden enhancements giving me a better chance at winning. Free from all the encumberments of physical and mental and technical enhancements I felt more healthy and alive while participating. I would only win on natural, organic terms. Not on drugs or some other physical or mental adaption giving me an edge.

The past has much to teach,
but the future remains just out of reach.

And we do "live beyond" in a myriad of ways.

Our trainers have wings, but we run on cloven hooves wondering when we will arrive, and yes, as you say "Everyone wishing to live beyond." True words. John
