Antennae Reaching

Fiction teems with imaginings of the future, but what might inevitably become reality?

Poem Artwork
Antennae Reaching

Adjusting our antennae,
what distance will the waves of continuum require?

Will smiles ever again evade
our angered overload and distortion?

Can this new means,
this unproven transmission
merge emotions with intellectual spark,
avoid destruction by fire,
allow flame to light candles,
not infernal machines of hate?

Will the mountain stream
continue to carry the simplicity of
leaf-sail atop bark-boats of innocence,
that floating child-like imagination
into man’s unquenchable ocean of mind?

Will orbiting satellites someday
conjoin swirling auras of Nature?

Will questions beg “When” answers?

Will “When” become a long journey
for Ones and Zeros to be of Nature,
aspiring to know,
to think?

Can such digits ever tell us
how near the Singularity truly is,
that point where all parallel lines meet,
the point where a calculated variable
reaches unmeasurable/infinite value,
that moment beyond which technological progress
may become incomprehensibly complex?

And if such movement be resolved,
might man’s moral compass
risk annihilation?

Life’s antennae continues reaching…
directions unknown.

Amazing! Perhaps that is why our educational system is failing. "Big Brother" sees no need for us to "know" anything except what "He" wants us to know. Thought provoking write!!

Love ya!

You certainly are dystopian with this one. But the literary world has been filled with dystopian scenarios as early as HG Wells's War of the Worlds and scenarios like The Time Machine and Gulliver's Travels. In some way reality--the world wars and many genocides, is worse. Theorists, thinkers and philosophers do shape the future.

As the novel, 1984, proved, dystopian scenarios can happen, but usually much later than predicted and with much different consequences. So I'm not too concerned that binary algorithms will reach the point of Singularity anytime soon. But, as we enhance our intelligence, we may be able to keep pace with the progress of self improving AI well into the distant future.

We seem to share a concern about what the Silicon Valley billionaire nerds and globalist politicians have planned for humanity Odin. Good poem, a dystopian vision in verse.
