Three-Ring Madness

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

As our country continues to carry the embarrassment of ill-governing leadership, (let alone our inability to ban assault weapons and still allow respect for the 2nd amendment), one has to wonder about this continuing mind-lock. What might it take to silence the ring masters and get on with keeping our country great, you know, that state of mind before 2016?

Three-Ring Madness

Reason says we shouldn't,
But many do.
Countless watch with glee.
Some wrinkle their brow.
Hordes clap their hands.
A few might cover their eyes,
Ears,
Conscience.

How insufferable must it be,
This barrenness of logical chi,
Minds void of compassion's moisture,
A populous imprisoned under greed’s arid big top.

Time's cultivation
Rendering Soul's irrigation so natural.
At times, appearing so empty of tears.

We peer down from clouds on high,
Cheering three rings of crippled principle,
Compliant heads,
Languid eyes of heritage lost,
Intelligence quashed,
Spirits broken,
Left with but a nod or shake of the head,
Slowly reminding all,
Time eventually stops,
Hearts refuse to pump,
Tears are rendered dry
Before they reach lifeless eyes.

When social consciousness no longer matters,
When the iron talons of power and re-election
Become the only feeling
Governing knows,
Understands,
Yet, habitualized,
Will voting booths still hail Caesar
As integrity continues vacuous,
Cradling complicit numbness
in its unconscious bent to prevail?

Will we all eventually enjoin
Today's three-ringed madness,
Washington’s exclusive paradigm of impotence?

I'd really like to know how many now have voter remorse? I can only hope we survive this circus, to see this pass.

As the philosopher's say, all things must pass, and hopefully this madness will too.
