Cyclic time is truly a healer. Image by Fortin)

Poem Artwork
Scars

Our surface etchings…

Whether by deed,
Word,
Or thought,
Wounds start open,
Their scars knowing patience,
Art rendered of the dreaded kind.

How quiet the disfiguring moves,
Skin's tenacity ever protective,
Even as tissue of smiles eventually
Becomes but canyon topography of times past.

And then...

A day finally arrives.
Scars begin to shrivel.
Age becomes its own embrace,
The earned chameleon friendship,
A cycle complete,
The rebirth of crying,
The wrinkled baby awaiting protection.

This time,
With the long sleep
Poised at the threshold,
Where awakening
Remains unnecessary.

Aging platelets shift,
Taking their time,
Knowing we wait,
Uplifting sorrows once buried,
Making molten the flow,
Once contained and hardened.

As eyelids close,
Smile muscles mix with sadness.
Like a baby’s first cry from the womb,
One's final breath once again finds
Life’s short resonance is still a part of infinity’s bliss.

Yes, I've seen that look at the moment of death two times now. Who's to say, ya know? It was what it was. It is what it is. I will be what it will be. Tenderly written and beautiful!

Love ya!

I liked the narrative voice, and contents of the subject dealt in this poetic star.

"Scars" sings an ontologic metamorphosical song with poetic rhythm.

Poet Odin Roark: Your compositions never fail to comply with creative language's excellence.

May Your Quill keep on soaring ~ blown by awsthetical winds!

In reverent appreciation,

Superb, Odin. Vivid as those scars become when trauma remembers their creation.

the last line sounds like a bullet which once shoots will never return. . . However, love all tiny details. Cheers, alex

Especially liked (appreciated) the final stanza which aptly sums up the mood and tenor of the poem. "Life's short resonance is still a part of infinity's bliss." Yes indeed.
