Stone

So often we forget that life is but atoms in synchronous dance, even the most inactive forms until they’re not.

Poem Artwork
Stone

There’s something to be said
for being the inside of a stone.

What stories if would tell,.
from riddle to science,
no one has the answer.

Yet within, it must be special,
of cool and silent density,
even though some of us may have clung,
pressed with the force of an anvil in desperation,
rendering fractured rock to break away into scree
where a child may skip a piece across an alpine lake,
the flat escaping life’s gravity, but ultimately sinking,
slowly and without regret to the lake’s bottom,
inviting other silent life to join in creation’s evolution.

Along the life of earth’s changes…

Perhaps two rocks will generate sparks,
revealing a light inside,
where its personal moon is shining
from that somewhere above the summit of summits,
exposing the enigmatic writings
of a simple cosmic gift,
a stone’s way of mapping life
and still doing well.

How little attention we give
to our planet’s most ancient partner in life.

I can only say that we are all caught up in the to be immortal. Everyone has said it in their own way. I do wonder from time to time, what will be gained when they find our remains in dome distant world.

Every life form has its history. We are the history too for our future generations. Thousands of years from now the humans may take another form. Once we were giants on earth, but now we are considered dwarfs to them. Who knows what will happen to the human race in the distant future. Will we be looking the same, or we take forms in some other animals or fish since the earth consists of only 30% land but 70% water, and the lands keep diminishing every year by the earthquakes and landslides. The landscape of the earth keeps changing. Should we all be living underwater in the future? - Just a thought.

Thanks for a thought-provoking poem!

In stone, we are finding our history through that of life on this planet, going back billions of years. I have seen with my own eyes at Dinosaur National Monument in Colorado, myriad large bones like in some massive multiple grave of alien creatures that lived 65 years before us and thrived. It would've been impossible or nearly about for our fragile being to have lived then. But then, I have seen photographs of a loan human walking on a beach 35 to 45,000 years ago here in South or Central America.

What is it like to be encased in stone? To be smothered in a mudslide or encased in ash like those of Pompeii. To be pulled into quicksand. To be washed up drowned and have our bones covered by sand in a storm. These are the ways, part of the fossil history. Someday, maybe encased in plastic or some exotic impervious metal.

Sorry to have to be so scientific about your philosophical poem.

So very true that we can only imagine the events that took place to what we see today, fossils, layers, conglomerates.......they all tell a story! I love this, Odin!

Love ya!
