Weightless Love

We sometimes work so hard to create definition for feelings when it requires none. (Image by pinterest)

Poem Artwork

Weightless Love

How pure this burden of weight

seeking to relieve its encumbrance

some call loneliness,

while some see it as the patience needed

for the wanton erosion of falsehood to disappear.

We all walk upon expanding paths of nature’s blending,

that sometimes-circuitous route

asking one see disappointment

as a lesson waiting to be learned,

embracing the experiences hard fought,

like that of a leaf that reluctantly floats to its resting place

awaiting the next season of existence.

Life need never forget…

All fate’s education offers compassion,

conscious that without mistakes

there are no adjustments learned.

For just as love’s quest for happiness

is genuinely earned,

the rejoicing is about its own completeness,

not for me or you to possess as object.

For to be in the state of love…

Is to know such hunger strives to remain

in its own amorphous wonderment

a reserved realm of being,

having experienced defeat along the way,

yet accepting of the teaching reward

that remains only valid for those who seek

the realm of unselfish acceptance.

Weightless love.

How beautiful the reality.

To love unconditionally is the greatest gift one can give. It certainly feels weightless because there is no condition dragging it down. When it happens let it flow. There's nothing better than when two hearts come together in mutual admiration and love. As your poem indicates, may we all experience the feeling of floating.

You have painted a feeling that follows mortal wonderment and an explosion in your very core! I feel your words, Odin! I was "weightless" once.

Love ya!

Three exquisite lines "is" the poem . . .

"We all walk upon expanding paths of nature’s blending,"

and . . .

"that remains only valid for those who seek
the realm of unselfish acceptance."

Wonderful thought process within the mind.

A beautiful image for a beautiful poem. I think you are on to something: True love is surely "weightless"!

How often love becomes an attachment of things we identify with. Yet true love is ever evolving isn't it.

A lovely fragment: '...like that of a leaf that reluctantly floats to its resting place, awaiting the next season of existence.' The title of this piece reminds me of an article I recently wrote on the psychosocial aspects of long-distance space travel (e.g. the upcoming Mars Transit Mission) in which actual weightless 'love' must needs be addressed. Ah, the gravity of such a concept! [To quote Dr. Sheldon Cooper (the 'Big Bang Theory' TV series), "Ah, gravity! Thou art a heartless bitch!"]
