To Look the Other Way

To look the other way
is to ignore happiness waiting for sorrow to fade,
to ignore candlelight waning as only a respite ‘til next time,
to deny courage spawned when dealing with death
to not hear the joy of dolphins speaking to be touched.

To look the other way
is to assume sadness longs not for your smile,
is to assume love only bathes in luxuriant waters,
that past experiences bodes not for the future.

To look the other way

is to deny the desire of existence,
is to reject the reality of paradox,
to see obstacles as stop signs,
to bury one’s innate child-like imagination,

and imprison oneself in preparation for the end,

when life’s circle of beginnings

is but creation in perpetual motion,

knowing no end, only cosmic rest stops?
