Short exploration into a societal malaise that, like it or not, portends permanence, unless… (Image by stefanoscata)

Anxiety Survival

Anxiety…

Being often but a blip in time and space,
akin to watching sand dunes walking,

where beneath a seemingly permanent eclipse,

disturbance brushing ever so close to the sand,
displaces those tiny grains of buried discomfort,

rendering some to temporary grounding,

and perhaps a peaceful calm.

Might it be…

Remaining anxious,

is to avoid the possibility

that gusts of hope could lead to

shifting sands of chance

and the acceptance of an oasis in one’s desert,

a place where trust in the unknown

could be all that is needed to quench the thirst of survival?

Odin, you have spoken truth in your poem. Wise words. This part is so unique and soul touching, "Remaining anxious,
is to avoid the possibility
that gusts of hope could lead to
shifting sands of chance
and the acceptance of an oasis in one’s desert,"

Few folks know what it is truly like on an arid desert. This poem of yours gives me a glimpse of a faded memory. Well done!

Indeed, the beauty of the desert lies in the fact that there is always, somewhere, a desert well.
