The Big Blur

Our daily awakening asks much of us. How slow will we proceed in order to not pass everything beckoning out full sensorial awareness? (Image by pinterest)

The Big Blur

For so long,
how simple the decision.
Adolescent verve clinging
to youthful inexperience,

slipping unwillingly into adulthood,
one’s introduction into blurred lines.

Yet clarity awaits.

To be,
to travel through the darkness of ignorance
into the sensorial pleasure of immeasurable existence
learning that we of cosmic matter continue to travel,
even after bodily demise.

Infinity dictates ends await new beginnings.

How comforting,
how fulfilling
to think with purpose about today’s time and beyond.

To live slowly,
to nurture one’s state of aliveness with consciousness,

staving off the big blur acquiescence,
that instant-gratification-fast-lane,

the fast lane that only knows short rides.

Alvin Toffler wrote about this in Future Shock and subsequent books. You speak of maturity as something that results from taking time to savor experience and put it in its proper place. As time moves forward, technology enters our lives and takes us from natural process in ever more consuming and trifling ways. Until, for many, their days are just a constant stream of multitasking trivial activities that can be described looking back at the end of the day as a "blur."

To live in consciousness and "staving off the big blur acquiescence" is quite a challenge that few succeed in meeting. "To live slowly," ah yes. in this frantic world.
