Mirrored Delussions

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

With war dominating the international news, be it Gaza, or any other child’s-play-battle. How many more years will we indulge war with tried and proven worthless persuasion? Some would argue forever “it’s our nature.” Some would argue “It’s hard-wired.” Somebody needs to proffer the difference and maybe create a armistice of mind, if not of body. Have I mentioned “fear” as the most destructive force in the universe, and the most used excuse for war? ( Image by Irena Buzarewiczon)

Mirrored Delusions

How true that ghosts of ubiquitous corpses rise up
with nary an epiphany to rely on,
no insight to ruminate about.

Like embalmed habits,
the quest of no return,
the take-no-prisoners mind set
continues without pause.

And yet…

We point fingers at Near Eastern neighbors
and their tribal persistence of pain,
as if we know better.

We…

Who only use a different lexicon
to explore futility,
to frame our mirrors,

when the reflections can only present truth,

regardless of language.

Why does the mirrored beholder
remain mute?

Might it be that ignorance is difficult to change

without the willingness to be honest?

War mongers pay attention.

Do you honestly believe your efforts

are for the betterment of mankind,

for the planet’s gift of plants, animals, foul and fish?

How about air to breathe, void of contamination?

Who needs to get a life, huh?

Maybe the pawns of the world masquerading as kings?

Hello… the Hill.

So eloquent your description of our sheepish following of the logic of stupidly repeating the past over and over for no reason except that it is the patriotic thing to do. And we honor people in our cemeteries who paid the ultimate price not to live for the glory of those who order them into battle and lived. And all those Christian hypocrites who claim to believe wholeheartedly in "thou shall not kill," except when it comes to national pride and who is the "greatest," country in the world.

You got right down to it at the end. For it is not only the air that is at stake, it is the water we drink and the food we must eat to survive.

I love Ruan's timley comment, so I shall repeat it.

"Will they never realise that it is always 'stalemate' before they've even begun the game!"

I could not have put it better.
We (the majority) remain the scapegoats for such barbaric and pointless games, while the 'masquerading pawns' defile and deceive their way to false glory in order to feed their own egos.
Will they never realise that it is always 'stalemate' before they've even begun the game! ....I fear not.
