Vacuous Thought

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

With rare exception, the “Breaking News” stories continually remind one that the joys of thinking occupy little promise from the headline-baiting, for ignorance goes unabated and continues to gather traction. Might there ever be a solution to this dichotomy of principal vs amorality, this endemic ethical and behavioral decay? (Image by pinterest)

Vacuous Thought

Our minds, our guardians,
for the weakness of the flesh,
the challenge of one’s growth,
protection of innocent’s passion.

Our minds, our guardians,
growing old,
struggling with past and future,
innately seeking truth.

Our minds, our guardians,
biding time which asks nothing of us,
but to allow focus,
which chooses not ignorance,
but seeks needs over wants.

Our minds, our guardians,
nature's scholarly heart pumping quietly
while withstanding the noise,
the clatter of the lost climbing ever higher
into deliriant clouds.

Let's hope for the best, Odin. Having been a caregiver for a lady who was "sharp as a tack" until she was nearly 90 was a wonderful opportunity to learn more of her life and listen to the poetry she had memorized. She spoke fluent Finnish, Swedish, French, and German. Thank goodness she didn't climb "ever higher into deliriant clouds".

Love ya!

I think we all have times when our minds drift. Sometimes they drift in the right direction and great short story appears. At other times, we may be distracted and start to miss little cues that keep us on track. Some form of dementia reaches the best of us. But hopefully not our core being.
