Imagination's Reality

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Even back when the re-writing process of Echosis seemed exhausting at times, I was often reminded of the book's premise, and I continued, along with my editor. As writers, in an effort to make honesty more transparent, perhaps something in all of us resists the need to discard yet another word or find a replacement. Something. Always the struggle. Imagination’s Reality

Where lurks our alter-ego,
sometimes our only friend,
insistent pariah to some,
outcast of inanity to others.

When does its knock most often come?

For some, as nocturnal quiet succumbs to chaotic sleep.

For others, when myriad subway riders turn away.

Still others find its gentle persuasion while transfixed upon a snowflake.

How quickly it enters,
ever patient for mind-tumblers to unlock,
knowing combinations might be infinite,
preventing access to one's very personal universe.

How carefully society installs our fire-walls,
bent on maintaining the status quo,
afraid imagined alternatives might beckon
their own hackers-in-waiting.

But try as we might,
Echosis rests not at the oasis,
even as fear and trepidation stand ready beyond,
unaware we are all creative.

So persists our irrepressible world of imagination,
knowing beyond our doubts that time is there for us,
if only we will awaken and dream… beyond today’s reality.

Having read "Echosis", which by the way is mind blowing, your poem is transparent and reflects exactly the ids, if you may. We are able to "create" out own way. This poem is so fine, Odin!

Love ya!

Jane
