Strangulating Truth with Lies and Hate

Twisted and complicated efforts to survive with honesty
is akin to seaweed of a lonely shore

that endures the constant return
of the ebb and flow of our confused mind state.

Hollowed out in the once healthy marrow of our integrity,
the tunnels of our synaptic ventures,

forever maneuver its terrain with hooks and twists,

bringing us ever closer to the languid exhaustion of effort,

but always sensing that navigating truthfully is the only way.

To deny the pain of lying,
the unknown consequence of deceit,
sends flailing psyches into the syndrome of
duplicitous smiles,
body language of circumvention
and the veiled eyes of virtue.

Is it any wonder that our mendacious behavior,
creating the waste and pollution we gorge on,
imbibing the contagion disease of ignorance,
finally brings us to a premature end?

For how can our deteriorating essence

ever recover without acknowledging

the skein we often allow to fray
