He Said She Said Wars

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Just another day in the world gone mad: “Drone strikes on crucial Saudi Arabian oil facilities have disrupted about half of the kingdom's oil capacity, or 5% of the daily global oil supply, people with knowledge of Saudi's oil operations told CNN Business. Yemen's Houthi rebels on Saturday took responsibility for the attacks, saying 10 drones targeted state-owned Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais, according to the Houthi-run Al-Masirah news agency.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo pinned the attack directly on Iran, which backs the Houthi rebels. "Iran has now launched an unprecedented attack on the world's energy supply. There is no evidence the attacks came from Yemen," he said on Twitter. (Photo by Shagul Tamil via Storyful)

He Said She Said Wars

Capitol Hill at present.

How camouflaged the offices of hostilities,
cloaked in duplicitous rhetoric,
elegant ties embroidered by tailored lapels
sitting enfolded by kid-skin leather,
each a throne to the ego needs of narcissism,
a platform to glare down upon the subpoenaed,
where testimonies from lifted chins
become the fodder for contemptuous rule.

The House and Senate…

Whether in committee hearings,
or their chamber of lairs,
how un-clever these wannabes to some of us,
these puppets whose strings are manipulated
by Whitehouse avarice and fright,
where re-election is top priority,
not the governing problems of a nation.

Such must society endure
from the politically armored fortification,
where gerrymandered votes
give many bloated time
to continue their warring behavior,
political tactics without any endgame strategy,
dishonesty serving up platitudes of self-aggrandizement,
all at the cost of people’s trust and tax dollars.

My, how gullible we have become,
endorsing representative chicanery and ambition,
ignoring the cost for such dishonest behavior
being borne out by society’s continued ignorance,
a glazed-over peering at a well-costumed, undeclared war
where smiles, glad-hands, and popularity
remain the chosen disguises
for greed, hatred and contempt.

The Cabinet…

Welcome to leadership’s Theatre of the Absurd,
the stage we created with unawareness and indolence,
where its stars play out their Grand Guignol acts
with aplomb and determination
thinking they will realize another curtain call
in the 2020 election cycle.

Such is the rule of Washington today…

A roadshow careening down our highways,
bloviating for the “very stable genius”
and applauding the vacuous air of the Oval Office

as their forever opening night,
a curtain rising on a new and gloriously pompous warring
from a heart of darkness forever in costume.

Is it not time to stop the Twitter skirmishes of blame

and start the peace-mending process

that demands governance by truth as the default start?

You have clearly skewered every aspect of our federal government and probably all of the state governments as well. But it has always been that way. It's just that the means of communication have traveled from the scandal sheets of the nineteenth century to the magazines and newspaper articles of the twentieth century to the media outlets becoming evermore ubiquitous in the twenty-first century. There has always been social media. It was just harder to talk back except with letters to the editor.

We now have rapid fire news, followed by rapid fire analysis, often wrong and recanted later. The danger that you propose is that we will go to war based on the support of the military-industrial complex instead of the saner route of negotiation and conciliation. United States is certainly helping Saudi Arabia beat up on Yemen. Probably with designs on annexing it to increase Saudi Arabia's territory and oil reserves. War is good business for the complex in the United States. Peace and negotiation are not.

My advice to readers is to ask everyone to work hard to get renewable energy going here in the states rather than donating to a government that taxes us for war, anyway, and let the government play its war games and finger-pointing without us.

Your words speak volumes. It seems to me that sheeple would rather be entertained rather than work for solutions.

A huge war in the Middle East is imminent. You know ole friend, I've watched (with as much interest as I can muster) the Democratic debates. Do you think any of those candidates are truthful, or are qualified to be POTUS? Honestly... from what I've heard, they're all nuts. And they can't stand each other either. Can you imagine Beto O'Rourke assembling a militia to come for our guns? If that happens, there will be a bloody violent conflict - government vs. the U.S. citizen - that will take the lives of hundreds of thousands on both sides. Those 800 plus Fema Detention Centers were constructed after 9/11 for a reason. Do you smell social-engineering? IMO, the only level-headed Democratic candidate, who has made ANY sense to me, is Tulsi Gabbard. I empathize with your frustration, your choler. Most are on edge to one degree or another. The world is about to change radically, and permanently. Everyone can feel it. It's like a runaway train, and no human is going to be able to stop it. But then again... Peace… r
