When the Ink LIngers Close

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Being in the midst of reading a biography of Whitman, I’ve become inordinately aware of how hesitant all writers hold their most intimate thoughts before grounding them in ink.

Poem Artwork

While the Ink Lingers Close…

When the ink lingers close
Memories beg to be grounded
Aspirations lunge for the brass ring
And the now pauses

When the ink lingers close
Tears gather sometimes to be denied
Laughter remains but an incident of the past
And you, and you, and you
Gather as linchpins in waiting

When the ink lingers close
I remove the covers
Spread my arms to the infinite
Beg to be courageous enough

When the ink lingers close
The distance from hand to pen finally grows short
The dark ink of release fills the canvas
And all of worth is there…

Especially that of love

THIS gem of a write gives the reader so much to contemplate, my friend. Such as "Spread my arms to the infinite / "Beg to be courageous enough." Awesome.

Being 'courageous enough' is the key IMO. Still, there is much that flows through an open creative mind, and not all of it is beneficial. In my personal experiences I find much of it to be junk that needs to be filtered out. Finding the gems is at times a tedious process. Love however... there is nothing that can stand against it. In the end Love will always win. Nicely conceptualized Odin. Enjoyed. Peace... r

Another gem. You hit the mark on this one. An intimate glance into the writer's workshop. A truly marvellous poem about how it may work.
