Mirrors of the Abyss

stay hidden
lest the light
high above
refract the truth
forcing the folly of power into but cascades of scree
eroding proud positions of self-righteous war
once yesterday today and the forever tomorrows
where more war is fought
as innocence slumbers
dreaming of a now
in the time frozen moments
desperately reaching for the light
while children of all ages wander aimlessly
hoping for the peace

offering what little they can
while darkness keeps quietly hidden behind
the forever molten stone of new beginnings
the mirrors of the abyss
