I really don’t care if you read my poem, but please… do yourself an immense favor,
watch the attached YouTube copy of Bernstein’s conducting music of Stravinsky’s ballet, Rite of Spring. Creativity unbridled, music, musicians, and conductor. It may, as it does for me, soften the blow from Washington’s cowardly position with allowing evil to play its hand against… yes, its arch enemy, the Nature of man… conscience… right from wrong. One may disagree with the pagan story line Stravinsky incorporated, but one cannot deny the genius musicality of the creation. Rite of Spring

 

What is our Right of Spring?

 

Do we not deserve the magnificence of nature transforming?

 

Or…

 

Are we forever destined to a concrete and asphalt environment

Dictated by a wholly narcissistic ruler,

One who cares little about anything,

Unless it has a dollar sign as its emoji,

One that cannot truly see the forest of middle-class renters

For the trees of über-rich buyers of skyscraper mansions?

      

Listen…

 

Imagine…

 

Contemplate…

 

Stravinsky knew the risks of a creative mind

Ever ready to take chances with musical innovation,

Composing an artful musical interpretation of life,

With layered expressions of honesty

Imbued with harmony and dissonance as life’s counterpoint.

Bernstein will always be remembered as one of the great musical composers who had a natural creative genius talent like no other.

Thanks for resurrecting his memory. Brilliant, intense, a fine musician, composer and conductor if there ever was one. Those were the days. When his funeral cortege went through the streets of Manhattan at his death in 1990, construction workers took off their hats and shouted "Goodbye, Lenny!" He was loved by the people of New York.

Bernstein!!! I never missed him on Saturday afternoons as he would give youth concerts or tell a story using music. Bernstein is genius! I must say I had a crush on him with I was 14 or around there.

"Stravinsky knew the risks of a creative mind"........as he possessed a creative mind. I love this, Odin!

I agree. What a powerful composition. I would note that Berstein's version lacks the sound quality that is available today, for example, in Rattler's offering by the London Symphony Orchestra, c.2017:
