Ink of Mind

With so many options to exercise the gift of imagination, why is it so few dare flex the creative muscles of their own innate ability? (Image by Troilo)

Poem Artwork

Ink of Mind

Ink expressions but dry,

While unearthed words have voices
Singing to sunsets yet born,
Even as screeching anguish
Knows but rakish pain
Buried beneath pigments of color
Yet to be discovered.

Unwritten visions resonate,
Guiding eyes to blank canvases
Only paper can know,
All for the sake of…

Surprise me pen,
Wrangle me a stallion of open land.
Let the sound of hooves echo canyons of sunrise,
His mane of ancient swirl
Bridle my anxious heart,
Breathe whispers from ash strewn fingers once yesterday,
Now today.

Gripping this masquerade of compliance so tight,
It knows not to breathe,
Only to write
‘Til sleep lulls the passion
And new dreams take flight.

Such simple needs,

This ink of mind.

Oh, Odin! Your words give deep meaning to the word, "ink" and I love it! It's so great when those "unearthed words".........yes! That is the holy grail!!

Love ya!

I've always had a vivid imagination, and that's probably why I didn't do well in school. I was too busy daydreaming.

The message of your piece is crystal clear. As Lord Byron long ago postulated: "But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling like dew, upon a thought, produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions, think." An excellent image to enhance your thoughts Odinsan. Well done. r

Imagination is a mysterious thing. I think some people have it and some people somehow suppress it. Your imagination laid bare for all to see, thru pen and paper (and cyberspace).
