Body Scorecard
Living with the body,
One to a person,
Demands acceptance
Of the flesh and blood accompaniment.
Yet…
No matter the size,
The beauty,
The health,
The gender,
The figure eventually reasons
Time to shut down.
Maybe…
It’s had it with the same
Eyebrows over droopy lids,
Sagging flesh sliding floorward,
Irritable bowel and bladder syndrome,
Creaky knees atop fallen arches.
There’s always the inevitable pause.
Should I…
List for a liver transplant,
Give up an ailing kidney
Laser the cataracts
Shave the head of what’s left
Fantasize beyond passion’s past
???
But then…
The body is a form one leaves eventually.
You know it happens,
‘cause you’ve watched others give the final nod,
Others just like you
Scrambling about
Smiling,
Crying,
Grumbling,
Leaning over the fence with jocular bad taste blabber,
Boring you for minutes,
Hours,
Especially even on cloudy days.
Yes…
We all live an existence inside a unique bio-scape
That aliens definitely won’t be
Reverse engineering.
And then…
The day comes,
You remember them all,
The day they are gone-gone
No forwarding address.
Love ya!
