Seashore Anomalies

To lie awake at night in a motel bed next to the ocean can bring on unique visions. (Image by pinterst)

Seashore Anomalies

Motel by the ocean

Affords white noise of another kind

When the next room makes you think

You heard a loud TV

Broadcasting late night horror

You don your shorts

Walk out barefoot

Only to find the ocean

Is having a nightmare

Weary of so many busy lifetimes

Pretending to rush off somewhere

And never getting anywhere

You return to bed mumbling

Nature imitating man

As you fold into your own nocturnal escape

A vivid remembrance. While many choose the seashore as a place to vacation, I would find the bugs and the constant sound of breakers to be annoying probably losing sleep. I did stay once in a motel on Venice Beach. But I believe I was too tired to do anything but sleep.

My younger brothers once spent their spring break on Mustang Island. Mustang Island is an outer island protecting Corpus Christi between Aransas and South Padre Island. The reason the island is named that way, is because of wild horses that lived there when beachgoers first came. I believe there are still horses there at the Mustang State Park.
