Silence
Silence
Means we care
Means we understand
Means we owe a lot to the nurses and doctors
Who may have to pull the plug on another virus victim
As we pull the ribbon on the bow around a hopefully small family celebration.
Silence
This Christmas
Allows us pause and to remember
Allows us to never forget the protection
Our dedicated first responders have afforded us
Enabling our trust and dependency to never wane
Silence
This Holiday
Can be exercised over the dinner table
Can be exercised over the gifts we're able to open
Can be exercised with a quiet and simple remembrance of freedom
This country still represents through all the corruption and derelict of leadership duty
Silence
On the days ahead
Could be our thank you to irony
As the Chosen One of 2016 fades away
To another golf course for further abuse of our tax dollars
All while we patiently await the upcoming sound of sanity’s calm
Silence
Is the reward
For those who are thankful
To not be hearing more negative words
To be able to bow one’s head in reverence for the freedom we still have
Silence
However
Should awaken quickly
When the oath of office is taken
By the next President of the United States
The man we the people chose to dig us out from the rubble
The four years of ego-infested destruction of our Constitution
Silence
The sound of one hand clapping
As we wave goodbye to the fading darkness of the past
