…and she was…
Like a pebble on a shore of discovery
Longing for purchase
Seeking the pick of a child
A mortal needing nurturing
Knowing that humankind fails often
And so…
The pebble
Like the lady becoming
Strode to find solace
Peace
Love
Mutual devotion
The little boy found her
Pocketed the pebble
Viewed it often
Bringing it to the sunlight
Watched it glitter
Then beneath clouds
Not of her making
Dim
But only temporarily
Such became
The partnership of journey
Carrying pebble’s two mortal to simple landmarks
Where other shores beckoned
Further pocketing of pebbles longing
Together…
Pebbles taught them
Nature
Man
Animal
All needing protective pocketing
With the magic of a pebble longing
“and she was” beginning
Knowing not any ending
Such is the sea of never-ending shoreline landings
