Face as Spiritual Essence
One’s face reflects their soul
Living with the face we get
starts with amoretto cheeks
beneath storybook eyes,
silken strands draped across the brow,
curious noses,
innocent lips.
Upon canvases so pure
strokes the brush of time,
dips into the palette of certainty
layering change upon change.
Color changes,
some remaining untainted,
others of sun’s burnt-orange delusion.
For many…
Drying.
Cracking.
Flaking.
Ill health war scars
For all…
One’s personal artwork
eventually retires to Life’s attic
propped up on memory’s walls that house the past,
when faces didn’t rely on mirrors,
expressions were for their own sake,
not the nip and tuck masks of today
reserved for make-believe reality.
To look in the mirror today,
is to accept or reject face-living’s reality.
And then there are those
Whose joy and kindness
Imprint their aura with longing
Longing to be with compassion
Care
And love for those around
That can truly handle such glory
Few remain in today’s world
I know but one of such spiritual glow
I've often wondered why aging brings character to some faces and ugliness to others. But I must say that kind, good and clean living is also kind to our future face. Perhaps, as you write, we can judge the spiritual essence of a person by their face.
