Unwritten Aplogies

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Regrets and apologies come in many forms, weak and strong, young and old.

Poem Artwork

Unwritten Apologies

Where rests the words not spoken,

The thoughts and anticipations unrealized,

The emotions still in cold storage.

Such are so many,

Those passages of fearful expression,

The revealing of feeling and intellect

 Made dreadful of exposure.

Choices…

You can’t successfully mend

With a quick re-do.

It has to be with

A naked truth reveal,

A who you are,

And don’t care

What people think

Kind of

Reveal.

The kind of unwritten apology

That speaks volumes

From action…

Not words.

Yes, there's nothing like fessing up for real. Telling it like it is, or other overused phrase or explanation to relieve oneself from guilt. Very cleansing.

The old adage "Actions speak louder than words" really rings true, especially in this day and age. The apologies that are nowadays offered, especially by celebrities, are usually done for expediency's sake, in order to maintain and not lose (or be cancelled), what they have. So, as you suggest, the "unwritten apology" in the form of actions, really are most effective, whereas words can fall short.
