If…
If Lonesome spent time with Lonely
Might there be a breakthrough,
A revelation possible,
Even if only ethereal?
One such meeting took place
Isolation having lost its comfort,
Sent Lonesome headlong into headwinds
Of its fear.
So familiar,
These inclement surroundings,
The ghost of the loved one,
The fragrance of her essence
Forever swirling its inclement lorn,
Like a fleeting kindness toward the forsaken.
Lonely’s childlike innocence
Echoes its need for Lonesome to allow wings
Of chance to be Lonely’s own mistakes,
To grow from freefall
Into soft landings
Of compassionate understanding,
Encompassing strength of being.
The coldness of weathered storms
Warm as Lonesome
Remains still
Giving Lonely its space
Without interference.
If…
If only Lonely
Makes the finish line,
To discover that being a champion of self-reliance
Can be a frightening place of choice,
Often lured behind fail-safe’s solitary walls
Where Lonesome—the elder statesman of life’s experience—returns
From its sojourn of melancholia
To remain steadfast
As an only child leading a secluded life
May be preordained,
A lesson,
A pre-cursor
To better beginnings…
Coming
An aloneness with so much
Togetherness of the past,
If…
