Poem Artwork

Sidewalk Bubbles

A “B” roll run

Camera held high

Pedestrians forge forward

The lens long

Condensing the mass

Making heads bob up and down

Like apples in a water barrel

How common the animation

How complex the subjects

The homeless

The executive

The entrepreneur

The waitress

All wishing to be noticed

Not by the camera

But by their true selves

How lonely the masses

The anonymous amidst

The celebrities

This is a terrific poem. I can hear the burbling, bubbling voices of the masses blending together in one great human walk. Each individual plays a part in the symphony of our shared humanity. Sad, only selfishly, but truly joyful.

Odin, this truly brought tears to my eyes and pain to my soul, contemplating the greatest task of all humans; to know who and what we are. We desperately need it for our own sake but many of us never find it. Outstanding poem.

Your words tell me that every person has a story all their own be it a story of joy or despair. "Bubbles"........I love it.

Love ya!

A glimpse in words, more revealing and impressive than the photograph of the ‘vision,’ because your vision goes way inside the outside….of people. Lovely. ~~ djl

The reality of NYC so well described. Enjoyed the title as well. How it reminds me of my time in NYC when I was a student at Columbia University. I pride myself on the fact that I have walked every inch of Manhattan from top to bottom and taken the Circle Line around the island several times as well. NYC will always find a central place in my heart.

Beautiful description of the different people rushing to and fro in a big city like new york. Some of them might have come there seeking the anonymity of the big city. Others, many others just want to be seen.
