Nothingness

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

“We are all connected to the Tao, and that is why we also possess
the power of creation on a personal level. The more we understand
how to tap into this power, the more we can create the personal
reality we want. This is one of the best reasons to cultivate the Tao.
T h e Ta o To d a y
What will you create today? How will you exercise your creativity?
Every day is a precious opportunity to put the power of personal
creation to work. Make use of it to see what will emerge in your
life— seemingly out of nowhere.” – The Tao of Joy Every Day by Derek Lin

Poem Artwork

Nothingness

How enlightening

This knowledge of nothingness

Understanding manifestation

Originates from nothingness

Offering heaven as a state of mind

Rather than a place.

Imagination becomes us

The ultimate source

For filling the void

Offering infinite potentialities.

Such is the essence of creation,

That moment

When epiphanies seem common

When a flower’s petals open and close

By a magical power

Just as you intake breath

And exhale the waste

With seemingly no help

Save that of innate process.

We the sentient representatives

Merely a part of Nature

Own the magic

And the responsibility

Of nothingness

In the

Something of life…

Seemingly out of nowhere

The order of the universe has our destiny and we are sucked up into it. Tao is real. We are merely a speck within it. The funny thing is, where do we begin to figure it all out, Odin???

Love ya!

What a glorious thing being able to create something out of nothing. Well penned, Odin.

A very unusual way of looking at things and a very inspiring one. I don't think a lot of people can actually comes to turns with such thoughts regarding the power of creativity. Many people are actually sleep-walkers and just go through the motions without ever actually realizing the great powers that we have within us. An inspiriting write. From nothingness indeed!

Reading ‘Nothingness’ stirred up some old memories in me, Odinsan. Forgive the stream of consciousness here. I studied Buddhism and Zen in college. Although very colorful and thought-provoking, I found there are far too many paradoxes and ambiguities in Eastern thought. For instance: Lao Tzu (the author of the Tao Te Ching) contends: “The perfect man employs his mind as a mirror. It grasps nothing, refuses nothing. It receives but does not keep. Tao is both named and nameless. As nameless, it is the origin of all things. As named, it is the mother of all things.”
The Tao is to the world what a great river or an ocean is to the streams and brooks,” He said. “The best way to live is to be like water. For water benefits all things and goes against none of them. It provides for all people and even cleanses those places a man is loath to go. In this way it is just like Tao. He also said: “Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.” You are one of the few poets remaining that can still stir up thought in me. Thank you for that. Peace and safety in your journey. rlc
