For some as they get older, there is a tendency to become cantankerous. For others of us, we accept that there are many reasons for us to get over ourselves as superior. (Image by pinterest)

Somewhere Came…
Pathos remained in shadows
Pain barely invented
Suffering was at one with nature
Staggering impact that painting has!! And this gem takes the painting and runs! I LOVE the line, “Suffering was at one with nature.” That is profundity in six words. ~~ djl
Yes, in nature, except for babies, animals seem to suffer pain, for the most part, without complaining, even if you can see it in their eyes. But humans in this case, the way you have framed it, are a complaining lot. Bemoaning every little ache and pain that comes naturally with age.
Some of us remain cheerful, knowing that trying to put our pain on others is fruitless and reduces communication. I refuse to be the quintessential "grumpy old man." My paternal grandfather was very stern and stoic. While he didn't complain, I never saw him with a smile on his face. Rather, he tended to wear a constant scowl. On the other hand, my maternal grandfather was always mellow and kind. Worried about his infirmities with good reason.
