Four-Walled Imagination Survival
How lonely the long-distance writer
As the pen affixes its ink determination.
Shadows rise from the page,
Dance upon the ceiling,
Scale the walls
And rest upon my desk,
Awaiting the next chapter’s brother,
A sister,
A lover,
A redeemer,
Trusting such will coalesce in harmony
When all is finished.
So goes life.
Whether by fiction,
Or fact,
There is magic in the ending
When one’s written sojourn-truth has found its purpose
Discovering one’s journey of living precipitously
And finding one’s destination with feet firmly planted
Has been uncertainty’s reward.
Whenever I journey out and share my work, people tell me they want to write. I always encourage them. Because, I find that writing in my retirement is such a great challenge to my intellect, imagination, research and ability to navigate my website and the Internet. They keep me from being isolated and alone. I'm engaged in active. Not just filling time with worry of the coming future.
Your poem conveys that feeling much better than I have expressed.
