To Be Adrift
How perplexing
He thought
From waist-deep in relations
To a boat-like flotation
Knowing one’s engine could be started again
He chose to let the tides carry him where they wanted
To be adrift
He thought
Was not a sad state
Rather it was a chance
At uninterrupted solitude
Afloat atop the tides of
Unpredictability
Where deep fathoms
Of clashing motion
Muffled by the depth and weight
Of determination
Was part of the darkness beneath him
The sightless and silent array of disturbing currents
Swelling to the gravitational pull of Natures sufferance
A distortion of forces subject to diurnal temperature changes
The cyclical changes of Man’s fear of power out of his control
Yes…
To maintain a flotation above the chaos and turmoil
Is to chance finding sold ground of worth
A footing that is void of another’s control.
