I Am

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

The innocent drama of living with others and with self has revealed over many years that the Big Bang singularity has remained the quintessential initiation of expansion and cooling of space itself. So too might a human experience the birth as an expansion of the species and a contribution to its demise through unparalleled births in the world. The paradox is the norm with which to access oneself as a total human being, i.e., the hot and cold of living. And, because “I don’t have anywhere to go… this is all I have” as was shouted in a motion picture about being truly who one was, I have found myself considering much of the same. Poem Artwork

I Am

I am a man inside-out
my imaginings verge on sane
light up ideas in the dark
churn the cauldron of angels
lift you and your doubts
give you to where you long
and maybe
if I feel a tremor
carry you back
where feeling warm again yet scared
heart racing like a feather's flutter in a hurricane
turn your hourglass once again

I am a man inside-out
vibrating with the collaborative
as flood lights arc
visceral memories resonate through my tissue
recalling the tweak of mind spasms
clenching tight the pages of script
when first a voice utters the word
when first an image comes alive
pushing me into a theatre's black tornado night

I am a man inside-out
knowable from afar
by the never-sleep-look of my eyes
the Murine forever poised between my fingers
calming the synaptic lightning
forever thundering across my lens

I am a man inside-out
re-born in swirling mind's weather
the storm's eye seeking calm
clearing overhead clouds
where some judge my blasphemous ignoring of gods
whose sacrosanct eggshells no one is to tread upon
where suits now tremble at the laser of my eyes
crossing me at their peril
knowing I can swallow their light
forever smothering the anger lashing them into their spin
cocooning their palm-tree fantasy by my own spin of another kind

I am a man inside-out
When Urania sets to flight my head
I hurtle into the vacuous silence
whiteness of black forever filling my palette with color
laced with the dissonance of my often melodious sensorium.

I am

Wow! That was quite an announcement! All that you have been and are, rolled up into one statement.

I don't think much of the Big Bang, but I recall that Arthur C. Clarke predicted that the human race could easily explode exponentially throughout the universe. What a way to solve the population problem! What migrants those would be. Humbly dropping in on worlds unknown.

You may be inside out, but your new look is even more productive than the old one tightly clutching a script and trying to make sure that you memorized all the words.

A tall order, writing a poem entitled "I Am", and bravely done, replete with thought-provoking images and ideas to think about. Love the use of repetition in the line "I am a man inside-out." I suspect many people feel that way, longing to be "outside in".

Sweetest kind of headache is the one that happens when wrapping all my neurons around the complexity, profundity, vocabulary, conceptualization, personification and vast realms of literacy you write. I love that gigantic stretchercize. Thanks :) ~~ djl
