Our integrity is all we have. We tarnish it when we spread rumors. Especially if they aren't true, to get ahead in life.

I watched The Space Race last night on the Discovery Channel. Ed Dwight was chosen by President Kennedy to be a part of the original astronauts. But black people thought of him as too white and white people thought of him as too black, even though he had the qualifications and was a test pilot like another rejected test pilot, Chuck Yeager. Initially, Yeager, rejected him in a typical racist fashion. But, largely because of Dwight's attitude, later they became good friends.

Ed Dwight new he was, "before his time" after President Kennedy died and he was conveniently forgotten for the astronaut corps. He waited 20 more years before Guion Bluford was allowed to be the first black person in space. Dwight had another talent, and dedicated his life to making sculpture of space artifacts and promoting the idea that blacks could compete in the race to space. He never blamed anyone. But bided his time, and Dwight has been recognized often in recent years for his contributions to the space effort.
