Weeping 89th Key

Being left out is always a disappointment even for an extra vibration wanting only to be recognized. (Image by Zev Hoover)

Weeping 89th Key

Walking through experience past,
arpeggios of reality run past me,
carrying tomorrow's consciousness
like flowers yet to bloom,
priming my senses,
exciting my heart,
preparing another sunrise,
letting me know once again
light of white beckons one follow,
mindful the mountain ranges of black
carry life's half-steps toward tomorrow,
merging dissonance with harmony,
conflict to resolve.

How sad,
this 89th key weeping,

wanting only inclusion.

This curious concept is great food for thought, especially the idea of that 89th key not being the highest C on the keyboard, maybe not even the next half-step C#. . but maybe a whole new ‘undiscovered quarter-step.’ And then, it would need a friend at the opposite end, beyond the lowest D, somewhere before C#, another ‘undiscovered quarter-step.’ — then, roll the keyboard into a circle and the two quarters make a half and 90 keys happily ever after.

I like the black keys being mountain ranges, for they deliver minor notes of haunting beauty. You have given this poem a unique idea of the ‘89th key,’ and assigned to it the importance of ‘something exceptionally ‘beyond.’ “light of white beckons one follow’ fills in the yang of the black keys’ yin and folds up this measure of emotion up and down the scale. Fresh conveyance, Odin. ~~ djl

Yes, each day brings a new effort to go beyond what others have done between the peaks and lows of their careers to finally go to that cord that reaches the reading or listening public in a way that makes a work stand out and become a bestseller.

We have to get beyond the box of the ordinary, the 88 keys, reach that new level achieved by anyone else before.

Keep trying. You never know when you will make it. Neither will I.

the 89th key indeed, sad for being left out of the conflagration of cords. A positive note of a poem on Valentine's Day.

"Being left out" "Wanting only to be recognized" I read this three times. The title, 88. The sub-title, 89. You have both keys weeping. Generally concert grand pianos have 88 keys. However.... there is a subsidiary of Yamaha that makes a 92 and 97 key models. This is the exception though. So, not knowing your true intention, it seems you are using the 89th key of a piano (which does not exist) as a contextual metaphor for what as yet has not been discovered creatively in your life. A bit of a mystery. Thanx 4 sharing.
