Aloneness

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

For some of us, adjusting to living alone is discomforting. Some of us, however, find it a self-preservation process, that surprisingly, affords much joy. (Image by Odin AI)

Poem Artwork

 Aloneness

In the quiet of my own company,
I find solace,
Dependent on no one,
A lone traveler in the vast expanse of self.

Aloneness,

A comforting embrace,
Not a void, but a space with voices of silence,
Reveals truths unseen in the clamor of the crowd,

Or the arc of toxicity engulfing the world.

I covet no one’s place,
No throne, no pedestal,
For in my isolation,
I am whole, unthreatened,
A sovereign of my own realm.

Isolation is not a barren land,
But a fertile ground,
Where thoughts bloom,
And the self finds unthreatened company,
A sanctuary of peace.

Yes…

Perhaps a key in creating an absence of conflict or hostilities is

Respecting self-love as a healthy prescription for peace.

I know many people who cannot stand to be alone. I personally prefer to be alone. I am still busy working and teaching, but value my precious time TOTALLY ALONE, when I can reflect and write and just be responsible for myself.

Wow, this is extraordinary! “..voices of silence,”. “…arc of toxicity…” captured completely in this image, the contrast of calm vs. crazy. Especially rich is “I covet no one’s place,” and my favorite line, “A sovereign in my own realm.” “. . . unthreatened company” — just reading those two words is calming, and indicating no need for substantiating. Gentle, effective, desirable, Odin. ~~ djl
