The Lizard Brain Jungle
In the age of Enlightenment,
where minds once soared,
we now crawl, dragging our knuckles through the dust,
as it becomes a distant memory,
replaced by the primal roar of the lizard brain.
Leaders,
once visionaries,
now puppets of their own fears,
manage with iron fists,
ruling with the blunt force of instinct.
Control is the mantra,
a chant of the primitive,
echoing through the halls of power.
Narcissism blooms,
a toxic flower in the garden of humanity,
each petal a reflection of self-aggrandizement.
We, the people,
once architects of progress,
now sculptors of our own demise,
chiseled by the crude tools of our basest nature.
The pandemic spreads,
not of virus,
but of mind,
infecting the core of our being,
turning us inward,
away from the light.
In this twilight, we stand,
a testament to what was,
and a warning of what is actuating.
In a twilight we stand indeed, and it's not a beautiful one.
