Slow Burn
So volatile this sensation.
From but a spark
Temperatures rise,
From the kindling of kindness,
The gradual increase of heat
Ignites the slow burn of a humble wick,
Oxygen fueling the feelings into flames.
Disappointment’s dry mouth,
Like Nature’s grassfire of warning,
Raises the temperature until
Life’s tree branches of growth,
Be they Sequoia
Or humankind,
All begin to succumb
As passion’s flames climb
Into the spirit of ether’s embrace,
Becoming the explosive nature
Of unfocused love…
Abandonment.
Lest one forgets…
The once slow burn of a candle-like timidity
Invites all in,
Its modest flame reaching to arouse awareness.
The spark of beginnings
Can lose control,
Sending the rush of an infernal
If regard,
Care,
Appreciation,
Respect
Are left behind.
Heat and flames
Are of Natural Law,
Both Nature and Human.
The rise is inevitable.
How we control it is everything.
