Today's What If...

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

The Los Angeles fires have left thousands of adults feeling very depressed. There are many forgotten ways to appreciate life. To be reminded of the seldom highlighted aspects of being alive is perhaps needed more now than ever before. Many will experience abandonment by those around them, but never abandoning self is priceless. (Image by Odin AI)

 Today’s What If…

The question hangs, a specter in the room,
'What is there to live for?'
its hushed tones, a chilling wind through the soul,
leaving behind a desolate silence.

We all touch that precipice,
some pushed by a hurricane of pain,
others by the gentle erosion of day-to-day,
the constant drip, drip, drip of unfulfilled dreams.

Still...

There's more than just the cliché,
the 'Who am I living for?'
The spouse, the friend, the relative?

There's a universe inside you,
a concerto of experiences,
even some of your threadbare convictions

woven through time.

What about your experience to share?

What about your convictions of authenticity?

What about your appreciation

to be alive,

to be a human being

capable of contributing something

to Humankind needing to think better of themselves?

What about your laughter of joy

Often erupting quietly inside soul,
a melody of appreciation that only you could compose?

What about the fear you conquered,
the battles you won,
the scars that tell the story of your resilience?

There's a fire in your heart,
a spark of brilliance,
a unique composition waiting to be played.

You are a vessel of wisdom,
a reservoir of emotions,
an embodiment of the human experience.
And that, dear thinker, is something worth living for.

So let your light illuminate,
let your voice be heard,
let your story be told.

You are a masterpiece,
a creation in progress,
a universe waiting to be explored.

You are more than enough.
You are worthy.
You are alive.

Your compassion and love

May well have transformed into wisdom

A sharing that might give hope

To another thinking

“What if?”

The astonishment of not being able to tell if this image is a photograph or a most excellent painting had me zooming in for fine detail. Still can’t tell…maybe it’s my eyesight. “Today’s what if…?” feels like a Rhapsody to Readers, Odin. You have given every receptive person the very ‘highlights’ of being alive that is given here as sorely needed at this spaghetti junction of deviance and confusion humans worldwide are finding ourselves. It could be felt by me, the swell of individual worth happening with each stanza that followed the first one. And, if we can all find ways to do what you have succeeded in doing {at least with me}, whatever that way IS, then you have not just been a drop in the ocean with this bloom of growth, you have been ‘the ocean.’. I can’t tell you my favorite stanza here….because they ALL are. Thank you, Odin. ~~ djl

A very fine peptalk for those who are reluctant to reveal themselves and let it all hang out so to speak.

It rings through to your earlier announcement that… we are all talented.

Indeed, there is a delicate balance that needs to be preserved between the negative and positive side of life. It seems we are experiencing this "balancing act" every day of our lives. At times, many times perhaps, the negative side weighs heavier, and we suffer accordingly. Perhaps then we should take your advice, succinctly stated in this poem : "Your compassion and love // may well have transformed into wisdom // a sharing that might give hope // to another thinking // 'What if?'" Well expressed food for thought.
