Alone With Celebrants
We drift…
Like a message in a bottle,
its ink smudged by time,
its destination unknown.
No island interrupts…
The horizon’s hush,
just the watercolor wash of sky and sea blurring boundaries
like dreams when sleep forgets to set an alarm.
Simple detachment…
A compass spins by whim,
A guide to coves carved from memory,
where Dodger Dogs sizzle like summer mirages,
onions glisten like dew on morning grass,
mustard drizzles in caution,
while popcorn bursts like fireworks in the theater of solitude.
Here…
The moon is a silver coin tossed by fate,
the sun a lion pacing the edge of the world,
while hurricanes’ wildness dances in nature’s ballroom,
twirls with abandon,
tearing holes in time’s patched sails.
To float…
Is to be buoyed by the breath of the wind,
becoming destiny’s lifeboat-leaking stories,
our thirst quenched by salt-kissed resilience.
All around…
No one watches.
No one waves.
And still, we wave back to the invisible,
to the indifferent,
to the tide that never asks where we’re going.
Imagination…
Allows our clinging to kelp strangling the shores,
where naming coconuts Wilson,
and finding FedEx boxes filled with metaphors,
holds loneliness at bay.
Quickly…
We learn that solitude is no villain.
It is the lighthouse within,
casting beams of clarity through the sometimes fog of persuasion.
Aloneness feasts…
On memory’s snacks,
while arrows of expectation bounce off the hull of our transport
like rubber darts.
What appears like a final wave whispers caution,
as it always does.
But we do not flinch,
knowing that just as the sea seems endless,
so too does possibility.
And one morning…
As the sky blushes with surprise,
a pod of dolphins arcs beside our drift,
laughter in their leaps,
compassionate eyes reflecting our own.
Enlightenment knows…
We are not alone.
We are not lost.
We are part of the deep’s transparent story,
written in waves,
spoken in wind,
and celebrated with Life,
a consciousness never needing anchors to know where it belongs.
I believe that your whole prosetry message is a metaphor for sending your work out in the Internet to see if someday it will be discovered and you will no longer be alone as a poet.
