Walking down the street
Avoiding cracks
Collecting the big leaves
Crushing small ones
Chasing butterflies
Screaming at bees
And laughing, laughing
At everything
And nothing at all.
Shoes on the wrong feet
Socks that don’t match
Ponytails hanging
Down to the ground
With ribbons and lace
And a smile from
Ear to ear, this child
Reminds me that
Life is wonderful.
