this is very beautiful and I can identify with this too. "when did innocence become a crime?" Innocence has always been a crime. You either play the way they say, or they send you away as anything they wish to dream up. I am a victim of not circumstance, but of a corrupt system that locks away a young girl, without charging her with a crime or saying she is dangerous. Nothing ever turns out the way it is supposed to anyway. If it did, Barbara would have had a vry happy life. But her life was filled with beatings, name calling, threats and something I am even ashamed to say. Thnx for sharing Lisa, this is so very true. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at our side constantly. What a magnificiant poem this is, Lisa. Your meter, your rhyme and your content are of absolutely superior quality. If not for the dreams and fairytale thoughts, most would never take the path of partnership, I believe. When we are "in love" we think that nothing is impossible and that love will make all of our dreams come true. Alas, life takes it toll and one by one the candles of hope that light the pathway to our dreams are extinguished. Life goes on and the strong ones manage to keep their relationships together and to adjust to the changes.

This is so unreal. i am about to post a poem where Tom gets all that you say we never get out of life. Fairy tales? Sure they are, and we shouldn't expect life to follow those idyllic dreams. Still, foolish humans that we are, we do think our live will be like that fairy tale, and when it doesn't some of us cannot handle it. Good poem.

This is so factual, Lisa. We are smothered from the time we're very young with the 'knight in shining armor' persona and no one on the earth is that perfect. It's nice to dream about it, but come the end of the day, we have to face the reality that we all have faults. Still, the world would be a much better place if reality breathed the fiction lifestyle.
