Oh Mother Land

As the world watched on in horror one more time, and with deepened sorrow and grief, at the loss of innocent lives, we must remind ourselves how important it is, to stand together, against these lower than snake minded creatures.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the citizens of England.

Oh Mother Land

Another day of terror;
Faces filled with horror-
Minds flowing with fear-
Loved ones missing; Lay dying
all alone; No arms to hold them tight;
No words will make it right-
Questions; Reasoning; A maze of jumbled
messes; Bodies as twisted as the
metal from the bus-
It's not about me; It's not about you;
But survival means; It's all
about Us

Frame by broken frame, they keep
reminding; Crashing down on Us
comes the shattered memories-
For those that stand as One; For those
that have fought and won-
Against dark and evil forces; Without
souls of man nor beast-
Oh Mother Land we know your pain;
We hear your founding cries;
No waters deep; Wide or rough;
They've reinforced our family ties

Four years ago, you pulled us close,
an injured child we were-
You held us up; Nursed our wounds;
and removed that throbbing burr-
Oh Mother Land now take our hand,
your child has come back home-
We'll guard your door, while humanity
heals; Be assured, you are
not alone

It is sad that Hail Britannia! has come to revisit after all these years. The Crusades and colonialism did more to create a world of terror than we can imagine.

Tears are running down my face yet again because of the beauty and comfort of your tribute to Great Britain. Absolutely one of the most powerful peices I've read--thank you. Definately a keeper, as most of your writes have been.

Your poetry is life-sustaining during these troubled times; terrorism may not be won with words, but words will soothe the aching heart and soul. Well done, Lisa.

Of course I agree with everything you have so eloquently stated. I think, however, it is time to shove eloquence out the damn door and do a little cussin'.

Lisa, these are the words I wanted to write, but in my grief they just did not come. Thank you for your beautiful verses. When our Mother is attacked, it leaves a deep scar upon her children as well. England has remained our family through it all and protected us with her strength and love. I offer her this in return and want her to know that we understand and feel her pain. God bless England and all of her people. Awesome job, Lisa.
Take care,
Sherry

A heartfelt work, Lisa. All of us who know compassion for fellow humans and who reciprocate the love of friends like ours in Great Britain grieve with England. You have expressed the anguish and love powerfully as only you do so well. ~~Nordette
