Angel Look Down

Angel look down; I plead in prayer-
Whisper words of caring; Touch lightly the soreness-
My heart aches in need; Less wants-
I sigh with tears; Tears streaming; I cry for the
mercy; The mercy of peace

Angel look down; Call me alas-
Know me in the moment; At first morning light-
Kiss the brow that suffers alone; Yet rejoices for all-
I listen for the message; Messenger without universal time-
Bow not before the man; Bow low before his God

Angel look down; With open hands and heart-
Acknowledge with grace; Me, Them and I-
Know the spirit of faith; Have faith of spirit-
Without doubt; Leaving doubt in the shadows-
Move upon me throughout; Within; Through life

Angel look down; Share words of sorrow-
Sing the song of broken souls; Hold them together with voice-
Recite the Psalms; Among the crowds that gather next to heaven-
Walk among men; With human kindness; Offerings
to a world unknown-
Angel look down; Angel look down and know I await-
Awaiting the peace; In the eye of God

This is one of the best descriptions I have read of depression.
Deep-down, low-down, hell's-gotta-be-up, b l u e s. Excellent!
Hope you yourself are not in that dark well now. If so, remember,
there are many hands -- mine included -- reaching to help you
pull out. Loving Hugs, 'Pea'

Your beautiful prayer aches with need and longing, Lisa. It is really difficult to feel that we have done the very best we can and have little to show for it. We wonder if our spiritual needs will ever be met, though we feel rather guilty asking for them when we have been granted so very much on a physical level; but hunger of the spirit is perhaps worse than hunger of the flesh and the freeze of lost loves perhaps greater than living in the icy Artic. Your poetry amazes me everytime I read you and I hunger for more when you are away and unable to post. Thank you for this gem, Lisa, you have filled my cup with your haunting and deeply meaningful prayer. May the angels hear your words and lift you upon their wings of golden to the place that where your prayers will be granted.
Take care,
Sherry

Lisa, I swear (forgive the expression) that your work reaches a higher level of spirituality with every new poem you write. This one is pure music to the weary soul and I can almost hear the harps playing along to it in song. Great stuff as always my dear friend and fellow poet.
