I Swear

I swear I felt your breath;
as I leaned to smell the rose-
And I swear I heard your voice-
as the day came to a close

The very next morning as I awoke;
There on my mind was pain-
The torture of losing you over and over-
My tears spilled out like rain

For you were the strawberry patch,
unharvested;
The fruit tree in full bloom-
The storm in life that never happened;
The sunshine that filled the room

I swear I tasted your  lips on mine;
just before daylight kissed the dawn-
I swear I saw you in the eye;
of the precious newborn fawn

I swear I felt you next to me;
as I knelt down to pray-
To ask the Lord to keep you safe-
'til we meet again, one day

I swear that all I am today;
is because you blessed me so-
You taught me how to love complete;
so my soul would always grow

And as I slumber in dreams so deep;
I can reach and touch you there-
You'll live in my heart forevermore;
and there you'll stay, I swear
