I'll Walk This Way Again
Stoic and stately I stood in the falling leaves;
Allowing them to exfoliate my soul-
I had been here before- With you-
And I would walk this way again- But
For now; I must follow a pathway new
I have doubt in multiple dimensions;
and here alone; I so feel-
I dropped in only to find you gone-
The ground was as hard as the stone;
that bore your name-
The date; The sonnet; The final song
Not yet Winter; Though cold and quiet;
your whispers fell softly at my feet-
The placed roses had died; Withered away-
They deserved equal respect-
Like us; Their billing faded much too soon-
All just a memory in the words I pray
Rain can wash through the footprints;
that I've left beside your grave-
But it will never wipe away the sorrow-
I can't help this feeling of suffocation; Maybe
its just the season; Or maybe not-
I've no more inner strength to borrow
While the bells toll in echoes;
Ringing through the trees; Above-
These tears I sob; Continue gently down;
Oh they aren't for you; Nor, are they for me;
But for the passing of the roses-
And the new pathway found
Yes; I'll walk this way again;
I'll stand in the footprints beside you-
Painful tears will fall; Like the leaves of today-
The placed roses will once again wither and fade;
I'll take your hand; With sorrow no more-
And we'll stroll together, that golden pathway
