It was gone; Just as though it had never been there- And it saddened me; What should have been an awe-inspiring event, was lost to my eye; This tragic death was almost; Just almost more than I could bear
How could I have been so oblivious to these changes that were taking place? I literally gasped; I know I did for I heard myself when I done it; I felt the heaviness within my heart; My chest began laboring; then it started to race
Life for me had never seemed to move about so quickly; Actually, I had always felt as though it was a bit bland- Uneventful- even boring- some might say- Not today; No, for this day has left me speechless; I'll remember always, the abuse I suffered, when I noticed Winter had stripped away the beauty of Fall- Gone was the fiery red maple leaves; the delicious golden flowing dress of the oaks- The bright orange that only God could have created; And I stood there weeping over the death of them all-
I now stand in the shadow of another Season's past-
Life does go on with or without us, doesn't it, Lisa. At times we become so wrapped up in all that is going on around us that we miss all the wonders that have been created for us. I suppose the answer is don't let all the BS in life get you down so that you can take time to smell the flowers and experience the fall; but this is always much easier said than done. Fortunately, we are given the seasons again and though they are never exactly the same, there will always be next fall to soothe your soul. Great job on this, Lisa!
