'The Soldier'

While the voice of a fallen Soldier;
lays silent on this day-
Those that knew him, speaks of him;
in a kind and gentle way

'Twas a Soldier; a Son; a Father;
a Husband to the one he loved-
His Country he served with honor;
now in Heaven he rests above

From the open plains of Oklahoma;
to the desert sands he went-
He gave his life for what he believed;
he knew what duty meant

With his words he filled our hearts;
with photos he allowed us sight-
He wanted truth to be told about;
all  the things that were going right

When he spoke of the native people;
it was the Afghan child he praised-
For he found them to be warm and caring;
even though they were poverty raised

In the photos with the WWE;
he posed next to The Big Show-
And while he proclaimed them as the stars;
It was Toby the actual Hero

Today we grieve and our hearts are heavy;
our tears of sorrow fall-
Rest now young Soldier in the arms of Angels;
but just know you'll be missed by all.

DoD Identifies Army Casulaty

         The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier, who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. 

         1st Sgt. Tobias C. Meister, 30, of Jenks, Okla., died south of Asadabad, Afghanistan on Dec. 28, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat patrol operations.  Meister was assigned to the Army Reserve's 321st Civil Affairs Brigade, San Antonio, Texas.
