Silence and Sorrow

Crowded in an empty room;
Stumbling into one sharp elbow; Then
another-
Conversations vibrating off the freshly painted walls;
Keeping me awake; Like the cries of a child;
I knew the voices; Yet, I was lost
to the names

They were seafoam green; Plastered
to a smooth creamy texture-
Shadows formed by broken words;
Pieces of fire; Flames of reflections;
Cutting through the light of darkness-
My ankles wouldn't support me; My
knees wouldn't console me-
My spirit took leave long ago-
and I wept; Oh, but not the tears of the
caring soul

Each echo quivered down my spine;
Commanding; No. Demanding; I earn the
right to remain among them-
Strong I was not; No longer, Or had
I ever been;
I'd not be here-
Scratching through the leftovers
of this purple
feathered anquish

It was dead roses and daisies; Neither
would lighten my grief-
So I approached the closed coffin of a
deliberate death; With softened breath;
and dry cheeks-
And with a sigh of silence and sorrow-
I spoke the name of peace

Your metaphors are deeply drawn from the very depths of your soul Lisa and it makes for poetry that always grips the reader and holds on for a long time after the reading. This is so sad! Deliberate death is the most haunting tortuous anguish for those left behind.

I am without words...alomst! Your poem drops me into such a solemn moment where the grief of it all is beyond any superficial emotion such as tears. It leaves me in a state of shock as though I knew the person who was the victim of their own disbelief. Your words are amazing and beautiful, Lisa and the images so crystal clear that I fell into them. This is excellent writing.

Take care,

Sherry
