Parade of Tears

Passing before me; Parading soldiers;
Each turn toward me; I can
see their expressionless faces-
The only emotion on display is mine-
I want to touch them; Save them;
Mother their final words-
But they pass before me; Taking
with them the wide silk ribbon of
my heart-

O come back before me; Just one final
time- Stand strong and proud looking
me in the eye-
I know your strength; I know you prevailed
with courage, honor and truth-
You will always be in my heart; The structure
of my soul; The thread of freedom and
justice that I'll forever be grateful
for-

I can't bear the pangs of losing you; Not even
one of you; Thus I know your
fate; You live one final moment through
this interpreter of fleeting songs-
Leaving me; O don't leave me between the
notes of sadness; Deliver me from
this sorrow;
Lay down your head; Retire now my gentle
warrior, and weep; Let the stains burn
through the pillow of a hero's
fading cry-
And rest; Rest now; Rest on
the banner of a gracious
land
And be assured your name will
never be forgotten

Beyond tribute's status climbs this pen to the point of diviness. Well done.

Oh! what a beautiful tribute this is, Lisa, though it seems much more than just that. It seems that you are again dreaming their dreams while you are awake and knowing the truths of their final days. To honor them and never forget their sacrifice seems far too little to do because I owe all that I am and all that I have to those who have fought and yes, those who died, for me to know the bliss of liberty. The warrior is the most noble of all men for he holds the rights and liberty of his countrymen higher than the value of his own life. God bless them, one and all. Outstanding write, Lisa and another of yours for my library. Blessings on you for remembering our soldiers and veterans.
Take care,
Sherry

This is soooo f____king great I am forced to use that expletive as I am sure many a soldier has used before. You capture the very essence of honour and bravery and loyalty that it is amazing to see the images lingering behind long after I have read your words and digested the awesome tribute that you give to these men and women who make the ultimate sacrifice.
